Premier Li Keqiang called on the Chinese people to learn from revolutionaries of the older generation at a symposium on Sept 6 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Yao Yilin.

Yao Yilin was a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and vice-premier of the State Council.

Premier Li spoke highly of Yao’s life achievements. As an excellent leader of the Party and the nation, an outstanding revolutionary and an excellent leader in the economic sector, Yao contributed much to China’s reform and opening-up and to the development of the national economy, he said.

“He devoted his whole life to China’s revolution, and serving the people,” the Premier said. “Today, we commemorate Yao Yilin, to learn about his noble character, pragmatic spirit, sense of mission and people-centered belief.”

To carry forward the great cause of revolutionaries of the older generation, we should strive to build a prosperous China and revitalize the Chinese nation, Premier Li said. To achieve this, we should firmly implement the new development concepts, push forward the supply-side reform and adjust economic structure, while improving people’s lives, to guarantee a healthy and stable economic growth.
