Premier Li meets with Malaysian PM

Premier Li Keqiang met with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on May 13.

Najib is in Beijing to attend the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, scheduled for May 14 to 15.

Premier Li said he appreciated Malaysia’s positive response to the Belt and Road Initiative from the very beginning.

“China will further promote large-scale joint projects, such as the Qinzhou Industrial Park in China, the Kuantan Industrial Park in Malaysia and the Malaka Gateway project,” he said.

Premier Li said China is willing to enhance cooperation in infrastructure, economy and defense, expressing his hope that Malaysia could continue to play a role for the benefit of the China-ASEAN relationship.

Najib said Malaysia is ready to maintain the good development momentum of bilateral ties, by enhancing mutual cooperation in railways, e-commerce and tourism.

He said Malaysia also will contribute to the development of the ASEAN-China relationship.

After the meeting, the two leaders witnessed the signing of agreements on economic cooperation, inspection and quarantine.
