Premier Li Keqiang met with Mozambican Prime Minister Carlos Agostinho do Rosario in Macao on Oct 10, before the fifth Ministerial Conference of the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.

Premier Li said that China and Mozambique have enjoyed a profound traditional friendship, and both sides should join efforts to promote the transformation and upgrade of their pragmatic cooperation.

China is willing to dovetail the Belt and Road initiative with Mozambique’s development strategies and participate in the construction and operation of basic infrastructure, including roads, ports and gas pipelines in Mozambique, said the Premier.

The Chinese government supports Chinese enterprises in helping Mozambique transfer its resource advantages into development edges to lay a solid foundation for Mozambique’s independent and sustainable development and achieve mutual benefits for both countries, Premier Li added.

Carlos Agostinho do Rosario thanked China for helping Mozambique achieve independent development. He hoped that both countries will strengthen cooperation in infrastructure, energy, agriculture, tourism, talent training and other fields, and continue to push forward bilateral ties.

State Councilor Yang Jing also attended the meeting.
