Premier Li Keqiang called for boosting cooperation and strengthening political mutual trust with Cape Verde, while meeting with Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva on Oct 10.

Cape Verde is an island country in the central Atlantic Ocean off the coast of West Africa.

Silva was in Macao for the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.

Premier Li appreciated the development of bilateral ties since China and Cape Verde established diplomatic relations 40 years ago. He said China is willing to promote cooperation on ocean economy, information technology, tourism, education and urban safety.

“We would like to share ideas with Cape Verde on poverty alleviation and encourage Chinese enterprises to invest there,” he said.

Silva said the government of Cape Verde supports the “One China” policy and would like to learn from China’s development. He vowed to promote bilateral cooperation in various fields.
