Premier Li on Sino-Laos ties

Premier Li Keqiang will attend the 11th East Asia Summit in Laos and pay an official visit to Laos from Sept 6 to 9. The Premier has met with several state leaders from Laos and expressed his hopes and expectations for cooperation between the two neighboring countries.

About cooperation

“China is willing to stand with Laos at the new starting point marked by the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties, deepen pragmatic cooperation in all fields, strengthen collaboration in international and regional affairs, and enrich the comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation between the two nations.”

“This year marks the commencement of the ASEAN community and the 25th anniversary of China-ASEAN dialogue. China will continue to support the construction of the ASEAN community, back up Laos’ presidency of ASEAN this year, and hopes to work with Laos on the Lancang-Mekong cooperation mechanism.”

“The two sides should propel comprehensive construction of the bilateral railway project, strengthen cooperation in production capacity and investment, and build more demonstrative projects in such areas as infrastructure, electric power and energy.”
