Premier Li Keqiang said that China and Togo will strengthen political trust to better benefit people in both countries, during a meeting with visiting Togolese President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé in Beijing on May 31.

China and Togo have a long friendship, highly trust each other and continuously achieve fruitful results in mutual cooperation, and President Gnassingbé’s meeting with President Xi Jinping on May 30 also ended with many achievements, the Premier said.

He said that China is glad to comprehensively promote friendly cooperation with Togo and other African countries and together face the challenges in traditional and non-traditional fields.

The Premier pointed out that China is willing to work with Togo to promote pragmatic cooperation in transportation infrastructure, port construction and mineral products. China also is willing to greatly push the construction of high-speed railways, highways and regional aviation networks, and the industrialization progress to achieve win-win development, he said.

Gnassingbé said that the friendship of both countries becomes more profound as time goes by. The major cooperation proposed by China has achieved actual results in Togo, and the country is glad to grasp cooperation opportunities with China to improve the business environment, he said.

He also said that Togo will strengthen cooperation with China in infrastructure construction, port and logistics, mineral resources and poverty-alleviation to boost the common development of China and Africa.
