“China attached great attention to its relation with Germany. China is willing to deepen the cooperation and exchange with the country and is glad to see a united and prosperous Europe,” said Premier Li Keqiang when meeting with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Beijing on April 8.

The fourth round of China-Germany governmental consultation will be held in China this year. The Premier said he hopes both sides can advance the link of China’s “Made in China 2025” with Germany’s “Industrial 4.0” strategy, promote third-party cooperation in high-speed rail field and drive the economic growth of both countries to contribute to the regional and world’s peaceful and steady development.

Premier Li introduced China’s current economic situation, and pointed that with a sluggish world economy there are a lot of uncertainties.

The Premier said that in the first quarter, there were many good signs for the Chinese economy and the situation is better than expected, while affected by the sluggish world economy, the basis for such good signs is not firm enough.

China will be faced with difficulties and challenges, but will continue to dig the growth potential of the economy and carry forward the opening-up and reform policy to keep development, said the Premier.

“We have the confidence and ability to keep China’s economic growth at middle to high speed and step the economy into middle to high-end level,” Premier Li said.

Steinmeier is visiting China for the second session of the Chinese-German strategic dialogue on diplomatic and security affairs.

He expressed that the current world situation is complicated, and that development taking place in Europe also has many problems, so countries should strengthen communication, expand cooperation and join hands to face challenges.

Germany is glad to advance the third-party market cooperation with China in high-speed rail and other infrastructure projects to promote both countries’ steady growth, said Steinmeier.
