Premier Li voices support for Macao development

Premier Li Keqiang on Dec 23 pledged continued support to the government of Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) when meeting with Chui Sai On, chief executive of the region.

Premier Li praised what the SAR government has done in the past. Macao has made great effort in adjusting economic structure, improving people’s livelihood and achieving financial surplus, Premier Li said.

Premier Li noted that the central government will continue to support the development of Macao. He urged them to promote moderate diversification of Macao’s economy. The central government will support Macao to take part in the strategies such as the Belt and Road Initiatives, the Premier said. The Premier also called for deepening mutual cooperation between the Chinese mainland and Macao.

The Premier said he hopes Macao will seize opportunities during the 13th Five-Year Plan period. He vowed to develop the economy and improve the quality of people’s lives.

Chui thanked the central government for its support of his administration. He also thanked the central government for releasing the map of administrative divisions demarcating the maritime and land zones of the SAR. Chui vowed to continue to work hard for an appropriate diversification of Macao’s economy, build a better world tourism center and promote new development in Macao.
