Premier Li raises proposal on China-ASEAN ties

Premier Li Keqiang put forward a six-pronged proposal on Nov 21 at the 18th leaders’ meeting between China and ASEAN member states (10+1), focusing on development of relations between China and ASEAN in the next five years.

In the proposal, Premier Li urged China and ASEAN to strengthen institution building for the cooperation between and joint development of the two economies. He called on the two sides to fast-track the upgrading of their economic and trade cooperation.

The Premier said during the meeting that his country looks forward to building synergy between China’s Belt and Road Initiative and ASEAN members’ respective development strategies to promote regional integration.

The Premier also exercised the interest of China and ASEAN to explore international production capacity cooperation.

Premier Li called on the two sides to lift their security cooperation level and strive to boost regional sustainable development.
