Premier Li Keqiang met Zulkifli Hasan, chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly of Indonesia (MPR), in Beijing on Sept 17.

Li said China and Indonesia are neighboring countries only divided by sea. As influential nations in East Asia, the two countries are ready to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, Li said.

He added that he hopes both sides will carry forward friendly exchanges at all levels as well as practical cooperation in all fields to benefit the two peoples and contribute to regional stability, prosperity and development.

Li said China is willing to synchronize its proposal to build a 21st Century Maritime Silk Road with Indonesia’s vision to become a Global Maritime Axis by carrying out industrial capacity cooperation and achieve both industrialization and bilateral cooperation.

He also said that he hopes the MPR will increase exchanges with China’s top political advisory body, the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), to enhance friendship and push forward governmental as well as business agreements.

Zulkifli Hasan said Indonesia and China have a long-lasting friendship as well as similar development visions. He said Indonesia is willing to step up cooperation with China in all sectors, especially maritime interconnectivity, investment, finance and energy resources, through business and public exchanges.

Zhang Qingli, vice chairman of the CPPCC, also attended the meeting.
