Premier Li Keqiang highlighted potential cooperation in production capacity when he met with visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Sept 15.

Reaching the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action over the Iranian nuclear issue is of major significance, Li said, to the peace and stability of the Middle East as well as in resolving other international or regional hotspot issues.

All the relevant parties hoped to effectively implement this agreement, and China, as a responsible major country, is ready to play a constructive role in ultimately resolving the Iranian nuclear issue on a comprehensive and appropriate basis, Li said.

China attaches great importance to Iran and the China-Iran relationship, and is willing to further uphold the major direction of developing ties to a strategic level, and the relationship is expected to grow, he said.

Both should jointly champion and boost the peace and stability of the region and the neighborhood of the two countries, Li said.

Li also noted that currently Iran is undergoing a critical period for expanding its infrastructure construction and advancing industrialization, while China enjoys cost-effective equipment and leading technologies, and China-Iran cooperation on production capacity could achieve mutual benefit and a win-win situation.

China is willing to conduct comprehensive, long-term and stable cooperation with Iran in the energy sector, he added.

Zarif said Iran appreciates China’s proactive and constructive role in the negotiating process regarding the Iranian nuclear issue, and the country expects China to further play a proactive role in effectively implementing the comprehensive agreement.

The political relationship between the two countries is good - they are in close coordination over regional and international affairs, and there is vast potential for cooperation in various fields, including energy, transportation, economy and trade, he said.

Iran highly prioritizes its relationship with China and is willing to develop the bilateral relationship and further advance two-way cooperation in a number of sectors, Zarif added.
