Local authorities should enhance their efforts to train disabled people and improve their education and skills, said Premier Li Keqiang in a note at the Fifth National Professional Skill Competition for Disabled People, which opened in Wuhan, Central China’s Hubei province, on July 11.

The authorities should also design better policies to help disabled people find a job, guarantee their sustenance and help them start their own business, the Premier said.

About 850 disabled people are taking part in the competition, which will last until July 12, in Wuhan. The event is also showcasing and selling products made by them.

State Councilor Wang Yong attended the opening ceremony.
