Premier Li Keqiang on April 22 ordered an investigation into a scam at China Grain Reserves Corporation involving grain storage.

China Central Television (CCTV) recently reported that grain warehouses in the provinces of Liaoning and Jilin had replaced fresh grains with stale ones in order to obtain subsidies during the process of purchasing, storing and selling grains.

Saying that this is a serious incident, the Premier called for a full investigation to get those responsible punished according to law — and to learn from this experience to prevent future incidents.

Premier Li called for strengthened supervision and better management of the country’s grain reserves.

Additionally, China Grain Reserves Corporation has sent representatives to the two provinces to conduct on-site investigation.
