China supports enterprises investing in Zambia in sectors including transport infrastructure and electricity, Premier Li Keqiang said on March 30 as he met Zambian President Edgar Lungu who is in China for a state visit and the 2015 Boao Forum for Asia.

The Premier hailed the China-Zambia relationship as a model of trust and cooperation symbolizing ties between China and many developing countries in Africa.

China is willing to carry out industrial and production cooperation with Zambia and supports Chinese companies investing in Zambia in areas such as traffic infrastructure, electricity, telecommunications and mining, he said.

The Premier also said China is willing to join with Zambia and Tanzania to revive the Tanzam railway, a lifeline that Beijing financed and built in the 1970s.

Lungu, for his part, said Zambia welcomes Chinese companies investing and start up businesses in Zambia.

Zambia supports the Africa-China Cooperation Forum and is willing to strengthen cooperation with China in trade and investment, infrastructure such as railways and highways, he said.
