Premier meets deputy from tiny ethnic group

Premier Li Keqiang joined a discussion with National People’s Congress deputies from Heilongjiang province in Beijing on March 9.

Liu Lei, a primary schoolteacher from Jiejinkou village, Tongjiang city is the only ethnic Hezhe NPC deputy. She introduced Premier Li to post-flood construction in her hometown with a photo album, and thanked the Premier for his concern for the disaster-hit area and his participation in the meeting.

The Hezhe, with a population of only about 4,000, is one of country’s smallest ethnic groups.

Premier Li visited areas severely hit by a flood in Tongjiang in 2013 and visited affected people.
