Premier Li Keqiang asked local people about market supplies, fair trade and food security during his visit to Liping Market in Guizhou province on Feb 13, ahead of the Spring Festival.

The Premier spent about 20 minutes discussing these issues in the market which stretches 100 meters — and also admired lanterns, Spring Festival couplets and other festival goods, describing the county’s Spring Festival atmosphere as “cheerful”.

Three issues worry him most: sufficient supply, fair trade — and food safety.

And he urged the market head to address these issues.

Before visiting poor Dong people in Guizhou province on Feb 13, Premier Li Keqiang toured Liping Market to learn about their supplies ahead of the Spring Festival.

After approaching each stand, he said, “I want to buy some festival goods. What kind of goods do local people buy for the Spring Festival? What are your best-selling products?”

Following recommendations from the vendors, the Premier bought several packages of Spring Festival goods to give the Dong people.
