Premier cites ancient classics

Premier Li Keqiang visited National Museum of China for an exhibition recording the progress of urban living, and highlighted the importance of home in the culture in Beijing on Nov 27.

“Chinese culture is rooted in the concept of home. The ancient Chinese classic Shi Jing (Book of Songs) introduced a love poem at the very beginning, because only a house with love can be called a home,” he said.

The Chinese people, with 5,000 years of recorded civilization, especially cherish the idea of home and human settlement enables people to live in better homes with more comfort and safety, he said.

“It also helps to strengthen our national sense of cohesion and build a better country,” he added.
