Premier stresses importance of water conservancy projects

Premier Li addresses a conference at the Ministry of Water Resources on Nov 24, 2014.

Premier Li Keqiang said that construction of major water conservancy projects is important for the present day - and will benefit residents for the foreseeable future.

He made the comments during his visit to the Ministry of Water Resources in Beijing on Nov 24.

The Premier said that boosting major programs will help increase rural incomes and promote effective investment and, in the long run, developing water conservation and water hazard removal are as important as the management of state affairs and ensuring national security.

He gave the example of the Dujiangyan Irrigation System, which has been well received by local residents.
