Premier Li Keqiang said that East Asia cannot develop vigorously without peace and stability.

Speaking at the 17th ASEAN Plus Three Summit in Nay Pyi Taw, capital of Myanmar, on Nov 13, Premier Li said countries in the region should resolve disputes and handle differences.

Li said that countries of 10+3 (ASEAN, China, Japan and the Republic of Korea) should enhance financial cooperation, expand the scale and scope of currency swap agreements, and make trade settlements in local currencies.

Li said that the primary task faced by Asian countries is to narrow the gap between the rich and poor, reduce poverty and improve people’s livelihood. China proposes to offer 100 million yuan to promote a poverty reduction project, he added.
