Premier to attend closing ceremony of Nanjing Youth Olympics

BEIJING - Premier Li Keqiang is to attend the closing ceremony of the second Summer Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing on Aug 28, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said on Aug 22.

Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Gaston Browne, Djibouti’s Prime Minister Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed and Madagascar’s Prime Minister Kolo Roger will also be present at the closing ceremony, at Li’s invitation.

The Youth Olympics, a sporting event for the youth of the world, was proposed by former International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge. Singapore held the inaugural Youth Olympics in 2010.
