State Council approved an application submitted by the National Development and Reform Commission to set up a mechanism of joint inter-ministerial meeting to strengthen implementation of the fair competition review policy, according to a circular issued on Jan 24.

According to the State Council, 28 government organs including NDRC, and the ministries of Education, Science and Technology, and Finance will form the inter-ministerial meeting.

The fair competition review policy was introduced last year to promote fair competition in the market.

The joint inter-ministerial meeting was set to enhance coordination and guidance for fair competition reviews and ensure solid implementation of the work.

Efforts should be made to strengthen communication and coordination among different regions and government departments, and the review standards will be further refined, according to the State Council.

An office of the joint inter-ministerial meeting will be established within NDRC, and the plenary meeting will be called by NDRC leader Xu Shaoshi, according to the State Council.
