A leading group will be established to develop the new material industry, according to a State Council circular issued on Dec 28.
The move is aimed at strengthening manufacturing capabilities and accelerating the development of the new sector.
According to the circular, the group will be responsible for overall planning, researching major policies and projects, and guiding the work of local governments.
Led by Vice-Premier Ma Kai, the group includes leaders of several ministries under the State Council, such as the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, National Development and Reform Commission, and Ministry of Finance.
The headquarters will be located at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, added the circular.
