The State Council on June 15 approved the establishment of a joint inter-ministerial conference system concerning port operations, as requested by the Central Administration of Customs.
According to a statement released by the State Council, the mechanism will be responsible for coordinating port-related affairs across the country.
Specifically, it will study and promote the implementation of major reform plans and measures, and tackle problems during the reform of port procedures.
It will also promote coordination and cooperation between departments concerning customs clearance and guide the construction of electronic ports.
The conference system, with offices headquartered in the Central Administration of Customs, will involve 21 departments and institutions.
