With Golden Week in full swing and with millions traveling the country, which famous sites are they all heading to? The world and indeed China got a view of it during our recent coverage of the G20 Summit, so the picturesque West Lake in Hangzhou is expected to be the most popular destination in China during the holiday.

Hangzhou broke records on Oct 2 by welcoming over 1.6 million tourists, an increase of more than 22 percent compared to last year’s numbers. In the capital Beijing, 180 scenic spots received more than 1 million trips, that’s up 10 percent on 2015. The Forbidden City recently imposed a maximum daily visitor limit of 80,000, and suggested that visitors book tickets in advance.
