Today is the start of the railway travel peak as China’s migrant workers head home.
Railway authorities say that some 8.4 million trips will be made today. Altogether 823 extra trains have been arranged nationwide to ease the pressure. Ahead of the holiday, most trips originate from major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
And today, Guangdong province, of which Guangzhou is the capital, will see the largest passenger flow, as migrant workers get on board.
