Moving on to news of China’s famous annual Spring Festival travel rush and more than eight million people traveled over rail on Jan 30, and this is even before next week’s peak.

Departments have added hundreds of extra passenger trains to meet the growing demand. Highways around the country are also seeing more traffic. Passenger cars will have a free pass on the country’s highways from Februray 7 to 13.

The Ministry of Transport is expecting more than 5.5 million cars to be on the nation’s roads during the holiday -- that’s a 15 percent rise on last year.
