New city transportation cards are making life easier for residents in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. Now the same travel card can be used throughout all three areas.

Starting on Dec 25, the updated travel card can be used in some bus lines in Beijing and Tianjin cities, as well as some cities in the neighbouring Hebei province.

This network connects nearly 140 lines in Beijing, 119 lines in Tianjin, and over 350 lines in Hebei province. Passengers can buy the travel card without registration in Beijing.

“The card charges fees in Beijing by how far you have traveled. In Beijing, passengers need to touch the machine twice when getting on and off the bus. The deposit for buying the card is 20 yuan, and the minimum top up fee the first time is 20 yuan,” said Yuan Tian, staff of Beijing Municipal Transportation.
