The United Nation’s cultural organization UNESCO has marked its 70th anniversary with Peking Opera. And, at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris, a show celebrating the art form has won over new fans.

Master performers of Peking Opera took center stage to perform several classic numbers. Translations of the lyrics were projected on to big screens.

And the efforts certainly paid off, as audience members were generous in both applause and praise.

Director-general of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, was present at the show. She said Peking Opera has been listed as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2010 and is a welcome gift to celebrate the organization’s 70th anniversary.
