China’s engagement with Kenya is set to expand with a new focus on industrial development and technology transfer. This is according to Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

He made the remarks while meeting Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta on Jan 10 at the start of his eight-day tour of Africa.

Wang said his mission is to strengthen existing ties between Kenya and China - and chart new areas for partnership. President Kenyatta welcomed the proposal. He also called on China to continue its close engagement and support Kenya’s efforts to open the East African region for greater business and development.
