Public given access to major sports centers in China

Updated: Oct 22,2014 9:36 AM

China has many grandiose sports centers that sit idle and empty when not hosting major sports events, so sports authorities have announced a plan giving the public access to these facilities.

“Large sports centers will be required to open to the public for a certain number of days every year. That will be mandatory. However, we will provide these facilities with financial aid to help with maintenance costs,” said Liu Fumin, head of Economic Dept. of State General Administration of Sports.
