FM to make UN, Mexico, US trip

Foreign Minister Wang Yi will start a nine-day trip from Sept 24 to attend the UN General Assembly in New York, visit Mexico and the United States, a Foreign Ministry spokeswoman announced on Sept 21.

The 69th Session of the UN General Assembly started at the United Nations headquarters in New York on Sept 16.

Wang will head a delegation to the session from Sept 24 to 28, and deliver a speech at the General Debate of the UN General Assembly, spokeswoman Hua Chunying told a daily press briefing.

Wang’s speech will elaborate China’s foreign policy of peace, development and cooperation. He will also expound China’s proposition on the current international situation and major international and regional issues, Hua noted.

At the invitation of his Mexican counterpart Jose Antonio Meade, the minister will pay an official visit to Mexico from Sept 28 to 30, during which Wang and Meade will co-chair the sixth meeting of the China-Mexico Permanent Binational Commission, Hua said.

At the invitation of US Secretary of State John Kerry, Wang will visit US from Sept 30 to Oct 2, the spokeswoman said, adding that the two sides will exchange views on China-US ties as well as international and regional issues of common concern.
