BEIJING — The State Council, China’s cabinet, announced the appointment and removal of several officials on Dec 7.

Sheng Laiyun was appointed deputy head of the National Bureau of Statistics, replacing Jia Nan, according to a statement issued by the State Council.

Zhang Jianhua was named head of the National Energy Administration, said the statement.

The State Council named Zhou Jie as deputy head of the China Academy of Engineering Physics while removing Tian Dongfeng from the post.
