BEIJING — A mainland spokesperson said in Beijing on Oct 17 that the mainland has always supported Taiwan enterprises’ development on the mainland, and the general situation of Taiwan enterprises on the mainland remains good.

“We will further open up and better our business environment to bring more room and opportunities to Taiwan enterprises to develop on the mainland,” said Ma Xiaoguang, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, at a press conference.

The mainland has approved 3,265 Taiwan-invested projects from Jan to Aug in 2018, up 29.6 percent year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

The first China International Import Expo (CIIE) will be held from Nov 5 to 10 in Shanghai. 72 Taiwan companies from electronics, intelligence, medical and food and service industries have signed up for the expo.

Ma said a large group of Taiwan compatriots have actively participated in the mainland’s reform and opening-up during the past 40 years and made great contributions to mainland’s development.

“We sincerely welcome Taiwan enterprises to join the CIIE,” said Ma.
