BEIJING — The State Council, China’s cabinet, announced that Xu Jianpei was appointed vice-president of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games on Sept 3.

Xu took the place of Wang Xiaodong, according to a statement issued by the State Council.

Nie Furu was appointed assistant minister of public security, the statement said.
