Patrick McCarthy, who came to China in 2012, is an English teacher in Changtu county, Liaoning province.
He could have a high-salary job in China’s big cities. However, encouraged by his mother-in-law, he and his Chinese wife gave up good jobs in the Republic of Korea, and came to Changtu to help local children learn English. He opened a training school there, and accepts all kinds of students, including the disadvantaged, mentally challenged and disabled.
He is concerned about education in China, and is using his own ability to help local students catch up with students in bigger cities.
