China issues revised catalog of medical instruments

BEIJING — China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) on Sept 4 issued a revised catalog of medical instruments, which will be put into use on Aug 1, 2018.

Li Bo, head of the National Institutes for Food and Drug Control affiliated with the CFDA, said that medical instruments will be categorized into 22 subdirectories according to their functions and clinical uses.

The current catalog of medical instruments contains 43 subdirectories.

All parties related to medical instruments are expected to deepen understanding of the new catalog in a year, said Wang Zhexiong, director of the CFDA’s registration division.
