7.0-magnitude quake hits SW China’s Sichuan province

BEIJING — A 7.0-magnitude earthquake jolted Jiuzhaigou county in Southwest China’s Sichuan province at 9:19 pm on Aug 8 (Beijing Time), according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).

The epicenter was monitored at 33.2 degrees north latitude and 103.82 degrees east longitude. The quake struck at a depth of 20 km, the center said in a statement.
