BEIJING — The Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC), China’s national legislature, is to inspect product quality in large parts of the country.

According to a document issued after a meeting on March 20, the inspection will focus on compliance with the Product Quality Law, and will continue till the end of April.

Inspectors will check the work of the State Council and judicial agencies.

The inspection will cover product quality testing services and the building of quality standards, to seek out problems that require changes to the law.

Four inspection teams will be sent to eight provincial-level regions including Tianjin, Shanghai and Guangdong. Provincial-level legislatures in another eight regions will be entrusted by the NPC Standing Committee to conduct the inspection.
