BEIJING — Chinese veterans who fought in the Anti-Japanese War will receive 5,000 yuan ($802.57) ahead of the 70th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression on Sept 3.

The allowance will be handed out to the veterans before September, according to a circular released on Aug 11 by the ministries of civil affairs and finance, at the request of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.

China has scheduled a series of events to mark the anniversary, culminating in a military parade on Sept 3 in Beijing.
