China’s airlines resume flights to Nepal on May 12

BEIJING — China’s airlines announced they will resume flights to Katmandu, capital of Nepal, as the airport there had reopened after a 7.5-magnitude earthquake on May 12.

The airlines included Air China, China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines.

There were altogether 12 flights from China’s Guangzhou, Chengdu, Lhasa, Kunming and Hong Kong to Katmandu on May 12.

A total of 37 people have been confirmed dead in the powerful quake, Nepal’s Home Ministry said in its latest update.
