President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang praised the achievements of the commercial sections of Chinese embassies and consulates over the last year and issued guidelines for them to further promote economic cooperation and trade, during a work conference in Beijing.
The conference, which was held from Feb 27 to March 2, was attended by officials and representatives of the commercial sections from various embassies and consulate generals.
Vice-Premier Wang Yang also met the officials and representatives and State Councilor Yang Jiechi addressed the conference on the international situation.
Providing consultation services to companies and policy advice to the government, the sections play a pivotal role in promoting Chinese trade and protecting commercial rights and interests. They also provide a window for foreign firms to explore trade opportunities in China.
