WARSAW — The 2018 China Higher Education Exhibition has been held in Warsaw with the main aim of comprehensively introducing Chinese universities and encouraging Polish students to study in China.

The exhibition on Oct 21 was hosted by the China Scholarship Council and the Chinese Embassy in Poland.

In his speech, Liu Guangyuan, Chinese ambassador to Poland, pointed out that this edition of exhibition included Chinese universities covering various disciplines and fields, such as science, engineering, and humanities. He emphasized that many of them were world-renowned universities, representing the highest level of China’s higher education development.

Liu added that this year’s edition was also the largest exhibition of higher education held by China in Poland in recent years. It was an important event for enhancing mutual understanding and trust between the universities in the two countries and promoting the exchanges between them.

Li Qing, deputy secretary-general of the China Scholarship Council, said that in recent years, the cooperation between China and Poland within the field of higher education has become closer, and university exchanges have become more frequent.

In 2017, a total of 2,115 Polish students studied in China. The China Scholarship Council wants to use this platform of educational exchanges to deepen the cooperation with Polish education sector and academic circles, further promote cooperation and exchanges between universities and support the two-way flow of students, scholars and teachers, Li said.

The exhibition was held at the Warsaw University of Technology. The university’s vice-rector, Professor Krzysztof Lewenstein said that the fact that the 2018 China Higher Education Exhibition is held at their university makes him feel very honored, and many Chinese universities participating in this exhibition have cooperative relations with the Warsaw University of Technology.

“I firmly believe that the cooperation between Polish and Chinese universities will continue to maintain a good momentum, including our school.” Lewenstein said.

More than 50 representatives from 25 universities, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology participated in the exhibition. The event attracted a large number of middle school and college students and parents from many cities in Poland.
