A section of the 900-megawatt solar photovoltaic power plant at a solar energy industrial park in Bahawalpur, Pakistan, is ready to connect with the grid.

The plant, a priority project under the initiative of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, is financed and constructed by China’s Zonergy Company Limited to the tune of more than $1.5 billion.

The project has been constructed in three stages with each building a 300 MW section. It is estimated that the entire plant will be complete in 2017.

Currently, a 50 MW section is nearing completion and will be connected for power generation.
