The Chinese embassy in Maputo donated items to the Mozambican government on Sept 16, which are expected to benefit hundreds of families who are still living in temporary shelters due to floods this year.

Chinese ambassador to Mozambique Su Jian said that the Chinese government is willing to continue strengthening the relations of friendship between the two nations, after the donation of construction materials to victims of floods in central and northern Mozambique.

The support was given to the Mozambican Women’s Organization by the Chinese Women Federation.

“This donation is another evidence of the friendship and cooperation relations between the two nations, and that the Chinese embassy is ready to serve as a bridge between the two people and to reinforce friendship relations between the women of the two countries,” said Su Jian.

The deputy general director of the Mozambican Institute for Natural Disasters Management, Casimiro Abreu, said that the donations will be directed to victims who lost everything in the floods.

“Up to this moment, we have created about 50 neighborhoods of temporary shelter, the residents there lived in areas of high vulnerability, and the donations will be given to them,” said Abreu.
