Kabul — A batch of agricultural mechanization equipment including 300 tractors, donated by the Chinese government, was handed over to Afghanistan on Aug 25.

At the handing-over ceremony, Chinese Ambassador Deng Xijun said agriculture is one of the key areas in cooperation between China and Afghanistan, and the donations further reflect China’s commitment to assisting the reconstruction of the war-ravaged country.

Noting that China and Afghanistan are a community of common destiny, the Chinese ambassador said China is willing to help Afghanistan within its capacity.

He said that over the past years, China has lent a hand unconditionally to Afghanistan in a variety of fields, including infrastructure, disaster relief and personnel training.

Assadullah Zamir, Afghan minister of agriculture, irrigation and livestock, expressed his gratitude to China for the donations, saying China’s assistance will definitely help Afghan people to improve their farming and reduce starvation.

Besides donating the mechanization equipment, China also dispatched ten experts to Kabul to train their Afghan counterparts on the operation and maintenance of the equipment.
