Top Chinese political adviser calls for innovation in tackling financial crisis

Top Chinese political adviser Jia Qinglin on Monday urged Chinese companies to boost innovation and enhance their core competitiveness in a bid to cope with the international financial crisis

Jia, who is paying an official good-will visit to Brazil, made the remarks when inspecting a factory of China's top air-conditioner producer Gree in the capital of Brazil's Amazonas State.

Jia, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, asked Chinese companies to pay more attention to the research and development of products and training of experts, as well as the development of core technology, including the introduction, learning and further development of advanced foreign technology.

He hailed cooperation between China and Brazil, saying stronger tangible cooperation conformed with the interests of the two peoples.

Jia suggested Chinese companies invest more in foreign markets and establish a good image for their enterprises and for China.

Jia left Manaus Monday, concluding his four-state visit to the Philippines, Peru, Ecuador and Brazil.
