China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin called for more economic and technological cooperation between China and other countries, when he attended a meeting of China Economic and Social Council (CESC) in Beijing Friday.

As chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Jia urged CESC to closely follow the economic performance and fresh development on domestic and world markets, and provide reference to the decision-making of the government and the Communist Party of China.

CESC should contribute more to China's reform and modernization drive and expand the channel of cooperation between the CPPCC and other countries, he said.

At the meeting, Wang Gang, vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, was elected as the new president of the CESC.

CESC is a national organization offering consulting services on economic and social researches.
