The waterways of the Yangtze River, China's longest, have been running smoothly following the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that hit Wenchuan County of Sichuan Province, through which the river runs, the Yangtze River Waterway Bureau said on Tuesday.

Staff in some districts, including Luzhou, Chongqing, Yichang, Wuhan and Nanjing, felt tremors. They were evacuated from regions affected by the tremors.

The waterway has been examined and no abnormalities were found, the bureau said.
