China lashes Taiwan authorities' so-called "2005 consensus" as twisting facts
|
The truth that the Chinese mainland and Taiwan reached consensus about the relations across the Taiwan Straits in 1992 cannot be denied, said a mainland official in Beijing Wednesday.
Fan Liqing, spokeswoman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said the Taiwan authorities recently fabricated the so-called "2005 consensus", which twisted the facts.
"There is no gainsaying the fact that the two sides made the 1992 consensus," she said.
The 1992 consensus saw both sides recognize that there is only one China, but agreed to differ on its definition.
Favorable steps to ease Taiwan children's education on mainland

More favorable measures will be offered to aid Taiwan compatriots' children to attend schools or kindergartens on the Chinese mainland, according to the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council on Wednesday.
Liu Jianfeng, an official with the office, said compatiots' children can go to any public or private schools, or vocational schools authorized by local governments.
The children will be treated on an equal footing with mainland children with regard to fees and upgrading qualifications, Liu said.
Mainland to kick off 4 agricultural zones for Taiwan farmers

A spokeswoman of the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office announced Wednesday that the Chinese mainland is to kick off four agricultural zones exclusively for entrepreneurial farmers from Taiwan.
The four zones are the Yongfu Park in Zhangping, Fujian Province, the Jinwan Park in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, the Huangpi Park in Wuhan, Hubei Province, and the Xishan Park in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, spokeswoman Fan Liqing said.
Banks' financing for Taiwan-funded companies on mainland exceeds 230 bln yuan

Chinese banks have financed 6,300 Taiwan-funded companies on the mainland with a total of 230 billion yuan (about 31.5 billion U.S. dollars) in 2007, according to the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.
Chinese banks' financing for Taiwan-funded companies on the mainland has exceeded 700 billion yuan since 2004, said Fan Liqing, spokeswoman for the Taiwan Affairs Office.
A total of seven Chinese banks have financed Taiwan-funded companies with more than 10 billion respectively in 2007 alone.
The Chinese mainland will continue to provide financing support to create a more favorable environment for Taiwan-funded companies, she said.
