By the end of 2007, a 220kv big power grid will cover whole Xinjiang.

The constructing of 750kv power transmission network from Hami to Anxi is to connect Xinjiang power grid and the main power grid of northwest China.

It is learned that, the 220kv big power grid will connect the former power network of Ili, Jilintai, Jinghe, Kuitun, Manas, Urumqi, Toksun, and Hami along North Slope of Tianshan Mountains from west to east. Meanwhile, the big power grid, centering on Urumqi Power Grid, will cover the main cities and counties in Xinjiang.

It is learned from Xinjiang Power Grid Company that in the next 5 years, Xinjiang will construct 18 220kv transformer substations and reconstruct 14 ones. The increased power transformation capacity will reach 3,360,000 Kilovolt-ampere.

The increased 220kv power lines will reach 4858 kilometers. By 2010, Xinjiang will have 39 220kv power transformer substations, with the power transformation capacity of 6,900,000 Kilovolt-ampere and power lines of 8138 kilometers.
